Automatic Address Validation setup

If your district uses the Geocode Map year-end transfer method [>>], you can useAutomatic Address Validation [>>], Google Maps validation [>>], or a combination of both to validate addresses in the district. If you opt to use both Automatic Address Validation and Google Maps, set up Automatic Address Validation first, then Google Maps validation.

Note: If your district uses the Projected School Map year-end transfer method, see About Google Maps Address Validation [>>].

Caution:

Set up all geocodes [>>] and address ranges [>>]before you activate automatic address validation [>>].

When you select Check student addresses against school zones on the General Preferences page to activate address validation [>>], PowerSchool SMS recalculates all students' geocodes.

When PowerSchool SMS runs Next-Year Preparation, students with unmapped geocodes who were enrolled in a projected school through the Next-Year Preparation process are deleted from those projected schools (students who have been manually enrolled are not affected).
