PowerSchool SMSAutomatic Address Validation is a process in which the addresses of incoming students, or students whose addresses are changing, are checked against a pre-defined geographical map to determine which school the students should be enrolled in.
With Automatic Address Validation, whenever you open a student record, the system automatically checks the student's address against the defined address ranges, and then updates the student's zoned school [>>].
Note: PowerSchool SMSAutomatic Address Validation only validates physical addresses.
When you enroll students in schools, change their address, or change their grade level, PowerSchool SMS checks that the student address is within the zone for their school of enrollment. If the student's address is out of zone, an address exception is automatically created. If district approval is required for out-of-zone enrollments, a district administrator must approve the exception before school users can enroll the student.
Note: You cannot enroll students if the student's address is invalid or if they are requesting enrollment out of zone and a pre-approved address exception has not been entered for the enrollment.
If Automatic Address Validation and Google Maps address validation [>>] are set up to work together, when you validate an address, the address appears in a Google Maps window.
