Assigning grades for a different class of the same course

When a student drops a class, then returns to the same course but is in a different class, you can backfill the grades the student earned while away.

Note: Backfilling grades works in conjunction with dropping a class for a student and then adding the student to another class in the same course; it is not intended for use when transferring a student to a different class.

To assign grades to a different class of the same course:

Locate and view the student record [>>]. The Edit Student Demographics page appears.

In the control bar, click Schedule. The Student Schedule page appears.

Click the Backfill Grades check box for the class.

In the control bar, click Grades. The Student Grades page appears [Figure 73].

Select the grading period [>>] and enter the grades.

Click Save.

Note: If you modify the assignment dates of the previous class assignment [>>], when you navigate to the Change History page and click the new class assignment the start date adjustment is visible when you click OK.
