Ensure that all students are assigned a home school

Ensure that every student is assigned a home school. This is because during Year-End Processing [>>]PowerSchool SMS only moves cumulative GPAs to the historical transcript pages of secondary school students who have a home school.

Note: Only a District Administrator or a School Administrator at the home school can assign the home school to a student.

To identify students who do not have a home school assigned: You can do this if your role is District Administrator.[DA]You can do this if your role is School Administrator.[SA]

Using the advanced student search [>>], create a search using the following criteria:

Field: "Home School"

=

Operator: "Equals"

=

Value: "N/A"

Click Search. PowerSchool SMS displays a list of students who do not have a home school assigned.

For each student, assign a home school [>>].

Or print the list of students for future reference (in the Actions menu, click Print).

To assign a student a home school: You can do this if your role is District Administrator.[DA]You can do this if your role is School Administrator.[SA]

View the student's record. The Student Demographics page appears.

On the Overview tab, under Student Summary, for Home School select a school.

Your role might restrict you to selecting your own school or "N/A".

Click OK.

To assign a home school to one or more students: You can do this if your role is District Administrator.[DA]You can do this if your role is School Administrator.[SA]

Select one or more students in a list of students.

For example, in a list of Student Search results [>>].

In the Actions menu, click Assign > Values. The Assign Values popup page appears.

For Assign Field, select "Home School".

For New Value, select the home school to assign.

Your role might restrict you to selecting your own school or "N/A".

Click Add to List.

Click OK. A dialog appears asking you to confirm the changes.

Click OK. A dialog appears that confirms that PowerSchool SMS has made the changes.

Click OK. PowerSchool SMS assigns the home school to the selected students.

If PowerSchool SMS fails to assign the home school to one or more of the selected students, it saves a list of the those students. You can view this list on the Quick Search page [>>].
