Assign entry and graduation grade levels for address validation

Since geocodes are associated with specific grade levels at schools, you must identify the grade at which students graduate from the school and the entry grade or grades at which students can enter the school. When you set up the Geocode Map, you can only assign geocodes to the grades identified as entry grades for the school. While most schools have only one entry grade, some schools may have more than one. For example, the elementary school for Geocode A may offer Grades 1 to 5, while the elementary school for Geocode B offers Grades 1 to 6. The middle school that these students go to would have two entry grades: Grade 6 for students in Geocode A; and Grade 7 for students in Geocode B.

Graduation and entry grades are the same in the active calendar and the planning calendar; therefore you only need to be set up once for both calendars.

If School Entry Grades is not available, make sure the year-end transfer method is set to Geocode Map. For more information, see Year-end transfer method [>>]

When you assign a geocode to a school's entry grade on the Geocode Map, that entry grade no longer appears in the Available Items and Assigned Items lists.
