Setting up supplementary class attendance

In a school using the once-daily or twice-daily methods, you can also designate individual classes for supplementary attendance taking. Elementary classes [>>] are handled differently from secondary school classes [>>]. Supplementary attendance does not affect daily attendance code calculations. PowerSchool SMS uses supplementary attendance data for other purposes, such as Program Management [>>].

Supplementary attendance for an elementary class

To designate an elementary class for supplementary attendance, that class must have a meeting pattern [>>].

To designate an elementary school class for supplementary attendance taking [You can do this if your role is School Administrator.SA]:

In the Admin menu, click Scheduling. The Scheduling page appears.

Under Step 4, click Class Setup. The Class Setup page appears.

Find the class.

Click Display All Records or search for a specific class.

Select the class's check box.

Under the Class Information panel, select the Collect Attendance check box [Figure 182].

Click Save.

Supplementary attendance for a secondary school class

To designate a secondary school class for supplementary attendance, that classes for the course must have a meeting pattern [>>]. For a Teacher to be able to take supplementary attendance for a class, the course to which a class belongs must also be designated for attendance collection.

To designate a secondary school class for supplementary attendance taking [You can do this if your role is School Administrator.SA]:

In the Admin menu, click Scheduling. The Scheduling page appears.

Under Step 5, click Master Schedule. The Master Schedule page appears.

Find the class.

Click Display All Records or search for a specific class.

Select the class.

On the Course Detail page, under the Class Information panel, select Collect Attendance.

Click Save.

Ensure that the corresponding course is designated for attendance collection:

In the Admin menu, click District Setup. The District Setup page appears.

Under District, click Course Catalog. The Course Catalog Home page appears.

Under Step 3, click Courses. The Course list appears.

In the Number column, click the course that corresponds to the class. The Course Detail page appears.

Ensure that Collect Attendance is selected [Figure 183]. Note: When this option is not selected for the district course, the attendance icon does not appear for any class associated with the course for secondary scheduling class attendance or secondary scheduling daily attendance with supplementary class attendance.

Click OK or return to a previous page.
