Calculating grades

[Applies to secondary schools only.]

Grades should be calculated before student credit, GPA, class rank , and honor roll calculations. There are two parts to the process:

Performing grade calculations

All calculations for grades, credits, and GPAs are run from the same page.

To perform grade calculations:You can do this if your role is School Administrator.[SA]

In the Admin menu, click Grading. The Grading page appears.

Under Step 7, click Calculate Grades, Credits, & GPAs. The Calculate Grades, Credits, & GPAs page appears

Under Students , to run the calculation for all students, choose All students in the school.

To run the calculation for selected students, choose Selected students. Use the Basic or Detail tabs to search for and select all students for whom you want to perform the calculation.

Under Calculated Grades, select the grade calculations to be run. Note: You can run this calculation with other calculations on the page.

From the Actions menu, click Run Calculation. The Define Schedule dialog appears.

Select when the calculation should be run and click OK:

Run now - The calculation is run immediately

Schedule calculation - The calculation is run at the defined time. The grades are calculated in the background. You will receive an alert when the task is complete.

Overriding grade calculations

Calculated grades can be overridden either from the Class Grades page or from the Student Grades page.

To override calculated grades for a class:You can do this if your role is School Administrator.[SA]

In the control bar under Classes, click Classes. The Classes page appears.

Click the Grading icon for the class. The Class Grades page appears and the calculated grades are indicated with the Calculated Grades icon .

To view the calculated grade formula, pause the cursor over the icon.

Click the Calculated Grades icon. The Calculated Grades Override dialog appears.

Enter or select the appropriate grade. If override reasons are required for the district, from the dropdown, select an override reason.

Click OK.The Class Grades page appears. Calculated grades that have been overridden are indicated with a tilde (~).

Click Save.

Open a student record. The Student Demographics page appears.

Click Grades in the control bar. The Student Grades page appears and the calculated grades are indicated with the Calculated Grades icon .

Click the Calculated Grades icon. The Calculated Grades Override dialog appears.

Enter or select the appropriate grade. If override reasons are required for the district, from the Override Reason dropdown, select an override reason.

Click OK. The Student Grades page appears. Calculated grades that have been overridden are indicated with a tilde (~).

Click Save.
