Stopping the PowerSchool SMS Task Manager

When changes are made to the database, the View Generator task automatically runs in the PowerSchool SMS Task Manager to regenerate the data access views that are used to build report templates. This task is resource-intensive; therefore, to ensure the process is as quick and easy as possible, it is recommended that the District Administrator turn off the PowerSchool SMS Task Manager while applying customization changes.

Because stopping PowerSchool SMS Task Manager interrupts the use of PowerSchool SMS, if customizations are created in a production environment, it is recommended that you apply changes after hours.

To stop the task manager [You can do this if your role is District Administrator.DA]:

Log off from PowerSchool SMS.

On the web server, from the Start menu, click Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools >Services. The Services window appears.

Right-click PowerSchool SMSTask Manager Service.

In the menu, click Stop.
