Ensure students are assigned a geocode [Geocode Map method only]
On a system that employs the Geocode Map [>>] as its year-end transfer method, the administrator should ensure that every student is assigned a geocode. This enables PowerSchool SMS to transfer each student to the appropriate school. Note: On a system that employs Address Validation, PowerSchool SMS assigns geocodes automatically—the administrator cannot assign geocodes. Refer to the Address Validation Guide.

Using a detailed student search page [>>], create a search using the following criteria: |

Field: "Geocode (Planning)" |

Click Search. PowerSchool SMS displays a list of students who do not have a geocode assigned. |

For each student, assign a geocode [>>]. |

Or print the list of students for future reference (in the Actions menu, click Print). |

View the student's record. The Student Demographics page appears. |

On the Address/Phone tab, under Addresses, under Geocodes, for Planning Calendar, select a geocode. |

Select one or more students in a list of students. |

For example, in a list of Student Search results [>>]. |

In the Actions menu, click Assign > Values. The Assign Values popup page appears. |

For Assign Field, select "Geocode (Planning)". |
|

For New Value, select the geocode to assign. |
|

Click OK. A dialog appears asking you to confirm the changes. |

Click OK. A dialog appears that confirms that PowerSchool SMS has made the changes. |

Click OK. PowerSchool SMS assigns the geocode to the selected students. |

If PowerSchool SMS fails to assign the geocode to one or more of the selected students, it saves a list of the those students. You can view this list on the Quick Search page [>>]. |
