Installing Microsoft .Net Framework on a server
Installation of PowerSchool SMS web and database installers requires .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 for Windows Server 2008 R2. (For information about .NET Framework, go to Microsoft's developer network library at http://msdn.microsoft.com/enus/ library/cc531167.aspx.)
On both the PowerSchool SMS database server and the web server, Application and Web server roles for .NET Framework must be set up.

On the database server, from the Start menu, click Administrative Tools > Server Manager. The Server Manager window appears. |

In the left-hand pane, click Roles. The Roles pane appears. |

Click Add Roles. The "Before You Begin" dialog appears. |

Click Next. The "Select Server Roles" dialog appears. |

Select Application Server, and then click Add Required Features. The "Select Server Roles" dialog reappears. |

Click Next.The "Application Server" dialog appears. |

Click Next. The "Select Server Roles" dialog reappears, with .NET Framework 3.5.1 selected. |

Select Web Server (IIS) and then click Add Required Role Services. |

Click Next. The "Web Server (IIS)" dialog appears. |

Click Next. The "Select Role Services" dialog reappears. |

Scroll down the list of Role Services and select IIS 6 Management Compatibility. |

Click Next. The "Confirmation Installation Selections" dialog appears. |
