School setup

One Chancery SMS system serves a school district. A typical school district has many schools. Each school in the system can have a unique setup; however many aspects of a school's setup are derived from options set at the district level [>>]; for example, grade levels, district calendar, course catalog, and so on. Thus, district setup precedes a school setup.

Typically, a District Administrator determines the initial setup of a school. Starting from this initial setup, a School Administrator is able to adjust his or her school's setup to best serve its needs.

Setting up a school involves (in the preferred order):

= School calendar setup [>>]
= Scheduling [>>]
= Attendance setup [>>]
= Grade level setup [>>]
= Facility setup [>>]
= Grading setup [>>]

School setup may also involve the following:

= Awards setup [>>]
= School staff [>>]
= Program Management: Refer to the Chancery SMSProgram Management Guide [see Addenda >>].
= Importing and exporting data: Refer to the Chancery SMSImport/Export Guide.
= Customizing system pages [>>].

To set up a school, a user must be assigned a role as a School Administrator and have a staff record assigned to the school [see User setup >>].
